On Thursday, May 30, 2024, volunteers collected accessibility data from around 70 locations using the GINTO app. The survey was carried out in small groups of 35 volunteers from different organizations. Accessibility data from restaurants, pharmacies, shops, hotels, tram stops and public toilets is now being communicated via various channels and is available free of charge to all participants and visitors to the event as well as to the people of Zurich.

“I'm happy that I was part of something big today! I had the privilege of volunteering with 35 fantastic people in Zurich to collect important accessibility data and ensure inclusion for the 2024 Road and Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Zurich. It was an eye-opening experience that underscored the importance of accessibility. I'm proud to do a small part to make Zurich more accessible and to help shape the future of inclusion! ”

Traveling together for an accessible Zurich

The Mapathon was initiated by Sitios AssociationWho is committed to an inclusive society. Sitios has with the GINTO app Create a digital platform that allows information about the accessibility of buildings and mobility services to be exchanged simply and easily. This removes important barriers for people with reduced mobility. This is because accessibility information is essential for people with disabilities in their travel and everyday planning and enables them to participate in social life.

The campaign took place as part of the National Disability Rights Action Days Took place and was supported by UCI Cycling and Para-Cycling Road World Championships Zurich 2024, the Swiss Barrier-Free Friends Association and Zürich Tourism.

“Thank you very much for organising the Mapathon ahead of the Cycling and Para-Cycling World Championships! As a major event that exemplifies inclusion, collecting accessibility information from locations within and around the fan zones was very important to us. With the ginto platform, Sitios offers the perfect solution for this. The collaboration with the Sitios team was great and recording with the GINTO app is really fun! Thank you so much for being able to carry out this campaign together! ”
